About Our Company...

Founded in 1987, George Stuart started life as a specialist manufacturer of high quality leather accessories. It grew steadily, becoming a leading supplier to retailers in the UK and the USA. Based in the Midlands, the centre of traditional English leather crafts, the business developed a strong and skilled workforce and a reputation for excellent products and service.

During a period when many UK leather businesses succumbed to competition from Asia, George Stuart concentrated on providing its clients with a combination of well designed products and a very fast turnaround. This allowed leading retailers to react quickly to changing trends and increase their flexibility in increasingly demanding markets.

With a well developed network of suppliers who share the same philosophy, George Stuart continued to grow until 2006 when a need for further investment was recognised along with the need to introduce additional capabilities to drive continued growth. 2007 saw the arrival of new investors who share the views of the company’s original founders and made a commitment to continue the growth of George Stuart.

George Stuart is committed to sustainable manufacture in England and has a firm belief that our abilities in design and our speed of response outweigh the short term cost benefits of outsourcing. With an in depth knowledge of our partners and clients, we know the source of our materials and the processes used to produce them.
